IRGC Claims Successful Strike on U.S. Military Base Following Reported American Operation

Tehran: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for a retaliatory strike against a U.S. military base, saying the operation successfully hit its intended targets.

According to Iranian media reports, the IRGC stated that the targeted base had allegedly been involved in operations against a telecommunications facility located on Sirik Island in Iran’s Hormozgan Province.

In a statement, the IRGC said its Aerospace Force carried out the strike against the military installation and claimed that the facility was significantly damaged. Iranian officials described the action as a response to what they called an earlier American operation targeting Iranian communications infrastructure.

The IRGC further stated that the retaliatory attack was launched within hours of receiving information about the alleged U.S. action. Iranian authorities said all pre-designated targets were successfully engaged during the operation.

Meanwhile, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that U.S. forces conducted strikes against Iranian-linked targets in the Goruk and Qeshm Island areas, which are located near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

According to CENTCOM, the operations were carried out in response to the reported downing of an American drone by Iranian forces.

The developments mark another escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns about regional stability and security in the Gulf region.
