Iran Says Talks with US Continue Through Pakistan to Finalize Agreement

NEW YORK, June 9: Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has stated that discussions between Iran and the United States are continuing through Pakistan as both sides work toward finalizing a potential agreement.

Speaking after a United Nations Security Council session focused on Afghanistan, Iravani said efforts to exchange views and proposals between Tehran and Washington remain ongoing.

According to the Iranian diplomat, Pakistan is serving as an intermediary channel through which both countries are sharing ideas and negotiating elements of a possible final draft. He noted that while a final agreement has not yet been reached, the dialogue process remains active.

Iravani added that discussions are continuing with the objective of resolving outstanding issues and moving closer to a mutually acceptable framework.

The Iranian envoy also indicated that any proposed ceasefire agreement under discussion would address regional concerns and include provisions relating to Lebanon and other affected areas.

Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated that Tehran has not abandoned either diplomacy or its strategic positions. He emphasized that Iran’s primary focus remains national security and the well-being of its people, describing diplomacy and defense as two essential pillars of national strength.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said he believes Iran is prepared to make significant concessions regarding its nuclear program in pursuit of a broader agreement. Trump also suggested that Tehran is seeking a constructive deal and referenced ongoing regional developments in the Middle East.

Despite continuing diplomatic contacts, officials from both sides have indicated that negotiations are still underway and that further discussions will be required before any final agreement can be announced.
