ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that a peace agreement has been reached between the United States and Iran following extensive diplomatic negotiations, with a formal signing ceremony scheduled to take place in Switzerland on June 19.

In a statement shared on social media, the prime minister said the two sides had agreed to an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon. He described the development as a major diplomatic breakthrough and an important step toward regional stability.

Sharif praised both Washington and Tehran for their commitment to resolving differences through dialogue and diplomacy. He said the agreement reflects the willingness of both parties to pursue peaceful solutions after a prolonged period of tensions and conflict.

The prime minister also expressed gratitude to regional partners that contributed to the mediation process. He specifically acknowledged the leadership of Qatar for its support and facilitation efforts, which he said played a key role in helping the negotiations reach a successful outcome.

In addition, Sharif thanked the governments of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye for their diplomatic engagement and constructive role throughout the process.

According to the prime minister, mediators will hold a series of meetings during the coming week to prepare for the next phase of the agreement. These discussions are expected to focus on technical matters, implementation mechanisms, and arrangements for the formal signing ceremony.

The official signing event is expected to be held in Switzerland, where representatives from the involved parties are anticipated to finalize the accord and outline the roadmap for its implementation.

Observers view the agreement as a potentially significant turning point in regional diplomacy. If successfully implemented, the accord could help reduce tensions, improve security conditions, and create opportunities for broader political and economic cooperation in the Middle East.

The announcement has drawn international attention, with governments and diplomatic observers closely monitoring developments ahead of the scheduled signing ceremony later this month.
