US Weighs New Global Naval Alliance to Secure Strait of Hormuz

The United States is reportedly working on a plan to establish a new international coalition aimed at strengthening security and ensuring safe navigation in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the proposed initiative is designed to safeguard commercial shipping routes in the region amid rising geopolitical tensions. The alliance is expected to focus on protecting trade flows and reducing risks to maritime traffic.

The report states that the initiative has been tentatively named the Maritime Freedom Construct (MFC). Details of the plan were outlined in an official communication sent by the United States Department of State to American embassies worldwide, directing diplomats to engage partner nations and encourage their participation.

Sources indicate that the US-led coalition would emphasize intelligence sharing, diplomatic coordination, and stricter enforcement of sanctions. The broader objective is to enhance maritime security while minimizing threats to international shipping in the Gulf region.

The initiative is expected to operate through close collaboration between the State Department and United States Central Command. While the State Department would lead diplomatic outreach, CENTCOM would provide real-time maritime intelligence and facilitate coordination among allied forces.

A senior US official suggested that the proposal is among several strategic options associated with former President Donald Trump, reflecting Washington’s intent to work with its allies to stabilize conditions in one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.

Analysts say that if implemented, the alliance could significantly impact regional dynamics, potentially improving shipping security while also raising concerns among rival powers about increased military coordination in the area.
