Washington: US President Donald Trump has said that he does not support a war with Iran, stating that he does not like wars.
However, he warned that Iran could face unprecedented consequences, claiming that the United States has already weakened Iran’s military capabilities. He also asserted that Iran would not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
Trump added that global oil prices are expected to decline after the end of ongoing tensions. He also highlighted the importance of his upcoming visit to China, expressing anticipation for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Earlier, the US president had warned that any attack by Iran on American vessels operating under “Project Freedom” would result in severe retaliation.
In an interview with a US television channel, Trump noted that Iran appears to have shown some flexibility in ongoing peace discussions. He further stated that US military preparedness in the region continues to increase, with advanced weapons and ammunition readily available.
He concluded by emphasizing that the United States maintains military bases worldwide, fully equipped and ready for use if necessary.
