Pakistan PM Condemns Missile and Drone Attacks on UAE, Urges Respect for Ceasefire

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the recent missile and drone attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates, calling for strict adherence to the ceasefire to maintain regional stability.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the prime minister expressed full solidarity with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He emphasized that Pakistan denounces any attacks aimed at civilian infrastructure and stands firmly with the government and people of the UAE during this challenging time.

Sharif further stressed that respecting the ceasefire is essential and must be implemented in both letter and spirit. He highlighted the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in paving the way for lasting peace and stability in the region.

Earlier, the UAE Ministry of Defense reported that missiles were launched from Iran toward the UAE. However, the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted most of them. According to officials, three missiles were destroyed mid-air, while a fourth fell into the sea without causing damage. The intended targets were reportedly key installations in Abu Dhabi.

Authorities confirmed that no major damage or casualties were reported. Security forces remain on high alert, with all necessary measures being taken to ensure public safety.

In response to the situation, flight operations at Dubai International Airport and Sharjah International Airport were temporarily suspended. Educational institutions have shifted to online learning, while security agencies continue to monitor developments closely.

This marks the first emergency missile alert in the UAE following the recent ceasefire between the United States and Iran, raising concerns among residents.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that the UAE was involved in actions against Iran, stating that the strike near Fujairah was a retaliatory move.
