Iran Warns US of Defeat if Military Operations Continue, Says Mohsen Rezaei
Tehran : Senior Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei has warned Washington that continued military operations in the region could lead to a defeat for US forces.
Rezaei, a former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and current member of Iran’s Expediency Council, strongly criticized US leadership. He claimed that the US president, defense officials, and military leadership are presenting illusions as achievements.
He stated that Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared, cautioning that the outcome for US troops would not resemble past operations in places like Sicily, but rather an incident similar to Tabas.
Rezaei’s reference to Tabas points to the failed Operation Eagle Claw in April 1980, when a US attempt to rescue hostages in Tehran collapsed due to technical failures and a deadly mid-air collision in the Iranian desert, resulting in the deaths of eight American servicemen.
