PM Says Iran–US Talks Could Lead to Lasting Peace Soon
Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed optimism that ongoing Iran–US dialogue could soon translate into lasting peace, saying that further loss of life must be avoided.
Addressing the 6th International Paigham-e-Islam Conference organized by the Pakistan Ulema Council, the prime minister congratulated the organizers and the International Tahaffuz-e-Haramain Council for hosting the event. He said Pakistan is playing an important role globally in promoting peace, dialogue, and mutual trust.
He stated that the presence of scholars, religious leaders, and international dignitaries from across the world reflects that Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood. He emphasized that challenges facing the Muslim world can be resolved through unity, love, and constructive engagement.
Referring to recent diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States, the prime minister said Pakistan’s initiative helped bring both sides to the same platform, which he described as a sign of international trust in Pakistan and a positive step toward regional stability.
He added that Pakistan has historically contributed to global peace and Muslim unity, noting that efforts by friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, China, and Türkiye, have played a supportive role in facilitating dialogue. He also praised the diplomatic efforts of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
The prime minister further acknowledged the role of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in supporting peace efforts. He also appreciated the contribution of Pakistan’s military leadership, particularly Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, for helping bring the concerned parties toward a ceasefire and negotiations.
He expressed hope that the ongoing diplomatic process will soon evolve into durable peace, preventing further loss of life and strengthening regional stability. The prime minister said these efforts will be remembered as an important chapter in Pakistan’s diplomatic history.
