US Secretary of State Says Strait of Hormuz Cannot Be Controlled by Any Country

Washington (Web Desk): US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that the Strait of Hormuz is an international passage that cannot be controlled by any single country, urging Iran to immediately return to the negotiating table.

Speaking at a press conference at the White House, Rubio said that the US-led operation “Project Freedom” is aimed at protecting human lives and not targeting any specific country. He emphasized that Iran would not be allowed to establish control over the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Rubio, recent operations saw US forces destroy seven Iranian fast boats, while ongoing tensions have resulted in the deaths of 10 civilian sailors in the strategic waterway. He added that US forces will continue targeting drones and vessels that pose a threat.

The US Secretary of State accused Iran of engaging in “criminal activities” in the Strait of Hormuz, adding that Washington is increasing its deployment in the region to ensure the safety of commercial shipping.

Rubio further said that diplomatic efforts are ongoing, with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff working on negotiations regarding the Middle East situation. He claimed that US measures have caused Iran losses of nearly $500 million per day due to restrictions.

He also announced the completion of “Operation Epic Fury,” stating that all objectives had been achieved. Rubio added that President Donald Trump wants the Iranian people to be empowered in determining their future.
