Trump Says Ceasefire Holding Despite Strait of Hormuz Clashes, Iran Deal Possible Soon

US President Donald Trump has said the ceasefire with Iran remains in place despite recent confrontations in and around the Strait of Hormuz, adding that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are continuing and a deal could be reached “any day.”

Speaking to reporters, Trump claimed Iran should not have targeted American naval vessels earlier in the day. According to him, Iranian forces launched missile and drone attacks against US ships operating in the region.

The US president further stated that Iran’s original ruling system had collapsed and that a second structure was now “almost ineffective,” claiming the United States was effectively dealing with a “third regime” in Tehran.

Trump also repeated his long-standing position that Iran would not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons, expressing confidence that Tehran would eventually sign an agreement with Washington.

During his remarks, Trump once again praised Pakistan, calling it a “great country,” and commended the Pakistani prime minister and military leadership for their roles and personalities.

Earlier, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social that three American destroyer warships had successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz. He alleged that the vessels came under attack from Iran during the passage but sustained no damage.
