Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has told United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres that Washington’s excessive demands remain the biggest hurdle in ongoing peace negotiations between Iran and the United States.
According to Iranian media reports, Araghchi made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Guterres, where he accused the United States of damaging diplomatic efforts in the past through broken promises, contradictory policies, and military actions.
Despite these concerns, the Iranian foreign minister said Tehran is still participating seriously in the talks being facilitated by Pakistan in an effort to reduce tensions and reach a diplomatic understanding.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the UN chief rejected the use of force against the sovereignty of any country and stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic engagement to maintain regional stability.
The latest developments come as Pakistan intensifies its mediation efforts between Tehran and Washington. Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Tehran as part of ongoing diplomatic consultations.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he remains in continuous contact with Field Marshal Asim Munir and expressed hope that Pakistan’s mediation could help both sides reach an agreement.
