Iran Says No Final Agreement Reached With US as Talks Continue

Tehran: Iran has rejected claims that a final agreement has been reached with the United States, stressing that negotiations between the two countries are still ongoing and several issues remain unresolved.

In a statement issued by Iran’s Foreign Ministry, officials said that diplomatic contacts and discussions with the United States continue, but no definitive deal has been finalized so far.

Speaking to state television, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that a memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington has not yet been completed. He emphasized that both sides remain engaged in dialogue, although important matters still require further discussion and agreement.

Baghaei also addressed the future of the Strait of Hormuz, saying that decisions regarding navigation and maritime management in the strategic waterway would depend on Iran and Oman. According to him, both countries have a joint framework for overseeing operations in the strait.

The Iranian spokesperson added that the current round of discussions is primarily focused on ending tensions and preventing further conflict. He noted that nuclear-related issues are not the central topic of the present negotiations.

The statement comes after remarks by US President Donald Trump, who said he was meeting with advisers in the White House Situation Room to review developments and make decisions regarding a potential agreement with Iran.

Trump stated that any future deal would require Iran to commit to never acquiring nuclear weapons. He also called for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping without restrictions or transit fees.

According to the US president, if such conditions are met, the United States would consider ending measures affecting Iranian naval activities in the region, allowing vessels and personnel to return to normal operations.

Trump further reiterated that assurances regarding Iran’s nuclear program would remain a key requirement in any future understanding between the two countries.

The latest developments indicate that while diplomatic engagement continues, significant differences remain, and a final agreement has yet to be achieved.
