TehIran Says Framework Reached With US, No Immediate Plan to Send Delegation to Pakistan

Editran – Iran’s Foreign Ministry has announced that a framework understanding has been reached with the United States, but there are currently no plans to send a negotiating delegation to Pakistan.

Speaking at a press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that although progress has been made in talks with Washington, it would be premature to declare that a final agreement has been reached.

Baghaei explained that the ongoing diplomatic process is currently focused on ending tensions and preventing further conflict between Iran and the United States. He clarified that discussions related to Iran’s nuclear program are not part of the present negotiations.

According to the Iranian spokesperson, many issues under discussion have produced positive results, but a complete agreement has not yet been finalized.

He further stated that the management and security of the Strait of Hormuz remain the responsibility of the countries located along its coastline. Baghaei also confirmed that Iran has no immediate intention of sending a delegation to Pakistan for negotiations at this stage.

The spokesperson added that a large portion of discussions with the United States has already been agreed upon, while Iran continues to move forward with what it considers the best strategy to protect its national interests.

Baghaei emphasized that Iran remains committed to its position despite pressure, threats, and propaganda campaigns, saying the country would respond according to its own policies and national priorities.

He also clarified that the proposed memorandum of understanding does not include detailed arrangements regarding the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, ships passing through the waterway would not face any new toll tax, although charges for certain services could still apply.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while speaking to the media before departing India, said he hoped positive news regarding an agreement with Iran could emerge soon.

Rubio added that excessive speculation about the negotiations should be avoided, stating that either a strong agreement would be reached or alternative options would have to be considered.
