Muzaffarabad, June 10, 2026: A Pakistan Army Aviation MI-17 helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad on Wednesday after reportedly developing a technical fault shortly after takeoff, resulting in the martyrdom of all personnel on board.
According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the helicopter encountered a mechanical problem during flight operations and subsequently crashed in the vicinity of Muzaffarabad.
Officials confirmed that none of the occupants survived the accident. Rescue and emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the crash site, where recovery and relief operations were launched.
The statement further noted that a high-level investigation board has been formed to determine the exact cause of the crash and examine the nature of the reported technical malfunction.
Senior military leadership, including the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff, expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives. They extended their condolences and sympathies to the families of the martyred personnel.
