Concerns Grow Over Potential Impact of Any US Move Against Iran’s Kharg Island
Tehran: Security analysts have warned that any attempt by the United States to take control of Iran’s strategically important Kharg Island could have serious consequences for stability across the Gulf region.
According to regional experts, such a move could significantly increase tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising the possibility of a wider security crisis involving several countries in the region.
Dania Zaffar, Executive Director of the Gulf International Forum, stated that if the US administration were to pursue a policy targeting Kharg Island, it could create major challenges for regional security. She noted that the situation might heighten the risk of direct confrontations involving Iran and neighboring Gulf states.
Zaffar further explained that Iran could respond not only against the United States but also against American allies operating in the region. Kharg Island remains one of Iran’s most important energy hubs, handling a significant share of the country’s oil exports and playing a vital role in its economy.
Observers believe that any escalation involving the island could have far-reaching effects on energy markets and regional stability.
