ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again invited opposition parties to engage in dialogue aimed at developing a Charter of Democracy and a Charter of Economy, emphasizing that political cooperation is essential for Pakistan’s stability and progress.

Addressing the National Assembly during the budget session, the prime minister said all elected representatives deserve respect and play an important role in strengthening the democratic system. He noted that lawmakers from all four provinces are represented in parliament, each bringing their own perspectives and priorities.

Calling for greater political understanding, Shehbaz Sharif said differences in opinion should not prevent cooperation on issues of national importance. He stated that the government remains ready to hold discussions with opposition parties and urged political leaders to work together for the country’s future.

Referring to a recent speech by opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the prime minister said he had listened carefully to the remarks and would respond in detail at an appropriate time.

The premier stressed that the country’s prosperity depends on fair distribution of resources among all provinces. He highlighted measures taken to increase financial allocations for Balochistan, saying the province’s share under the National Finance Commission (NFC) framework had been significantly enhanced.

Shehbaz Sharif said the additional resources provided to Balochistan were not a favor but a constitutional right of its people. He added that all provinces contributed to the decision, with Punjab making the largest financial adjustment to support the arrangement.

The prime minister also pointed to development projects in Balochistan, including support for farmers through solar energy initiatives and ongoing infrastructure projects. He said more than Rs300 billion is being invested in the construction of a major highway linking Gwadar and Chaman.

Addressing security challenges, Shehbaz Sharif expressed concern over terrorism in both Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said security forces continue to make sacrifices in the fight against militancy and stressed the importance of national unity in confronting security threats.

The prime minister paid tribute to fallen military personnel and law enforcement officials, saying their sacrifices help protect the nation and future generations. He urged all political stakeholders to honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and to remain committed to the fight against terrorism.

Concluding his address, Shehbaz Sharif said strengthening democracy, ensuring economic stability, and maintaining national security require cooperation across the political spectrum and a shared commitment to Pakistan’s future.
