WASHINGTON – The Trump administration has deported a group of nearly 20 migrants from several countries, including Iran, Afghanistan, Armenia, and Iraq, to the Central African Republic, according to media reports.

Among those removed were two Iranian women, while one of the deportees was reportedly an Iranian pro-democracy activist who had previously fled to the United States and had received legal protection through the U.S. immigration court system.

The Central African Republic remains one of the world’s poorest and most fragile nations. For decades, the country has struggled with armed conflict, political instability, human rights concerns, and recurring violence.

The U.S. government currently classifies the Central African Republic under its highest travel advisory level, warning American citizens against visiting the country due to security threats, crime, kidnappings, terrorism risks, and limited healthcare resources.

Reports indicate that the deported individuals were transferred despite concerns about conditions in the destination country. Human rights advocates and immigration lawyers have raised questions regarding the relocation of migrants to a region affected by ongoing instability.

An American official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that migrants from Armenia and Iraq were also included in the deportation group sent to the Central African Republic.

The development has drawn attention to the administration’s immigration enforcement policies and the handling of deportation cases involving individuals from countries facing political or security challenges.

Neither U.S. authorities nor officials in the Central African Republic have publicly released detailed information about the legal status or future arrangements for the deported migrants.
