US-Iran Talks Likely to Resume in Islamabad Next Week: US Newspaper

New York:The Wall Street Journal has claimed that negotiations between the United States and Iran are expected to resume in Islamabad next week.

According to the report, both countries are working through mediators to prepare a one-page, 14-point memorandum of understanding that could pave the way for a month-long negotiation process aimed at ending ongoing tensions and the current war-like situation in the region.

The proposed draft reportedly includes discussions on Iran’s nuclear program, reducing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, and the possible transfer of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpiles to another country.

The report further stated that several key issues remain unresolved, particularly the extent of possible sanctions relief for Iran, which continues to be a major sticking point in the negotiations.

According to the American newspaper, if initial talks show progress, both sides may agree to extend the month-long negotiation period further.
