British-Pakistani Boxer Hamzah Sheeraz Becomes World Champion
Lahore – British-Pakistani boxer Hamzah Sheeraz has made history by becoming a world champion, bringing pride to Pakistan and boxing fans around the world.
According to details, Hamzah Sheeraz claimed the WBO Super Middleweight world title after defeating Germany’s Elim Bagch by knockout in the second round. The victory marked the first world championship title of his professional boxing career.
From the opening bell, Sheeraz adopted an aggressive strategy and dominated the fight with powerful and accurate punches, leaving his German opponent struggling to respond.
The fight ended dramatically after Sheeraz landed a dangerous left hook that left his opponent unable to recover. The referee immediately stopped the contest, declaring Sheeraz the winner by knockout.
The 26-year-old boxer captured the vacant WBO Super Middleweight belt previously held by retired champion Terence Crawford, creating a historic moment in his career.
Following the victory, Hamzah Sheeraz performed a prostration of gratitude in the ring and celebrated the memorable achievement with his team.
Speaking to the media after the fight, Sheeraz said he is now fully prepared to face all top fighters in the 168-pound division.
He added that the fight felt easy for him, saying his opponent came under pressure immediately after the first punch, allowing him to maintain control throughout the bout.
Hamzah Sheeraz had earlier won the European Middleweight title in September 2024 after defeating Tyler Denny.
