Trump Says Iran Is Serious About Reaching Agreement, Defends Nuclear Deal Discussions
Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about ongoing diplomatic efforts with Iran, stating that Tehran appears genuinely interested in reaching an agreement that could benefit both the United States and its allies.
In a post shared on his social media platform, Trump said a potential agreement with Iran could become a strong and effective deal. He argued that political criticism from opponents is creating unnecessary obstacles for negotiators and complicating the diplomatic process.
The U.S. president noted that he continues to face conflicting advice from political figures, with some urging faster action and others recommending a more cautious approach. According to Trump, such political pressure makes it more difficult to achieve successful outcomes.
Trump also voiced confidence that the issue could ultimately be resolved through diplomacy and constructive engagement.
Addressing recent media reports, Trump criticized news coverage that suggested a possible agreement with Iran did not include nuclear-related provisions. He insisted that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remains a central element of any proposed deal.
According to Trump, the framework under discussion contains detailed provisions addressing various aspects of Iran’s nuclear program and places significant emphasis on nuclear-related commitments.
The president also questioned the credibility of certain media outlets, arguing that inaccurate reporting has contributed to public confusion regarding the negotiations.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that communication between Tehran and Washington remains ongoing. Speaking to Iranian state media, he stressed that it would be premature to draw conclusions about the negotiations before a clear outcome emerges.
Araghchi urged observers to avoid speculation and wait for concrete developments as diplomatic contacts continue.
