Iranian President Says Memorandum Signed to Test U.S. Commitment to Respecting Iran’s Rights
Tehran: Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Iran signed a memorandum of understanding with the United States to evaluate Washington’s commitment to respecting Iran’s rights and interests.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, President Pezeshkian said that members of Iran’s Parliament had endorsed the text of the memorandum following extensive and detailed negotiations.
According to the Iranian president, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei played a significant role in ensuring that key provisions aimed at protecting Iran’s national interests were included in the document. He described the memorandum as the outcome of several months of diplomatic discussions.
Pezeshkian emphasized that the agreement was signed as a way to assess the United States’ willingness to honor Iran’s legitimate rights. He added that the memorandum represents an important step toward ending hostilities and launching formal negotiations between the two countries.
The Iranian leader also noted that Iran remains prepared for all possible scenarios and options. He expressed confidence that if all provisions of the memorandum are fully implemented, the document could become a source of pride for the country.
Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has confirmed that both the United States and Iran have signed the memorandum. On the American side, the document was signed by President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, while Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf signed on behalf of Iran
