Iran Rejects ‘Unreasonable’ US Demands, Warns of Strong Response
Esmaeil Baghaei has stated that Tehran will not accept what he described as unreasonable demands from the United States, warning that Iran would respond forcefully if war is imposed on the country.
During a press briefing in Tehran, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said diplomacy remains an option, but stressed that Iran will always prioritize protecting its national interests and citizens.
Baghaei said Iran had already delivered its response to a proposal from Donald Trump through Pakistan, which has been acting as a mediator between the two sides. He described Tehran’s reply as balanced and responsible.
The Iranian official praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role, saying Islamabad has handled mediation efforts professionally while keeping regional stability in mind.
According to Baghaei, Iran has presented what it calls a fair proposal aimed at ending the conflict, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, lifting sanctions, and restoring maritime trade routes.
He also accused the United States of freezing Iranian assets through political pressure and said Tehran is demanding the removal of sanctions on those funds.
Baghaei urged European countries to avoid interference in the Strait of Hormuz and warned that foreign involvement in the Persian Gulf could further escalate tensions and increase global energy prices.
Earlier, Iranian officials reportedly dismissed Trump’s criticism of Tehran’s response, saying the American president’s reaction would not influence Iran’s negotiating position.
