China Urges Pakistan to Boost Mediation Efforts Between Iran and US

China has called on Pakistan to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States, while also helping restore normal shipping activity through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

According to Chinese state media, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday to discuss the rapidly evolving regional situation.

During the discussion, Wang Yi reportedly encouraged Pakistan to expand its mediation role between Tehran and Washington amid rising military and diplomatic tensions in the Middle East. He also stressed the importance of reopening and securing the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route that has been affected by regional instability.

The Chinese foreign minister assured Islamabad that Beijing would continue supporting Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives and would also contribute its own efforts toward reducing tensions and promoting regional stability.

The development comes as Donald Trump is expected to arrive in Beijing for a planned visit, where he is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping. Reports suggest that the ongoing Iran conflict and broader regional security concerns will be among the major topics of discussion during the high-level talks.

Analysts believe the latest diplomatic contacts highlight growing international efforts to prevent further escalation in the Middle East and to protect global trade routes from disruption.
