Trump Attacks US Media Over Iran War Coverage, Calls Reports ‘Treasonous’
Donald Trump has launched a sharp attack on sections of the American media over their coverage of the ongoing tensions involving Iran, describing some reports as “practically treason.”
In a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump criticized news reports suggesting that Tehran may hold a stronger strategic position than Washington in the current conflict involving the United States and Israel.
According to Trump, such reporting amounts to assisting the enemy and spreading narratives that could benefit Iran during a period of heightened regional tensions. He argued that these stories were giving Tehran “false hope,” insisting that Iran should not be allowed to believe it has any advantage in the confrontation.
The former US president also accused parts of the American press of working against national interests. In his statement, Trump claimed that only “losers, ungrateful people, and fools” would argue against the United States during an international crisis.
Reports also indicate that several senior officials connected to the Trump administration have recently intensified criticism of American media outlets over coverage questioning the military campaign and Washington’s strategy toward Iran.
Meanwhile, American broadcaster CNN cited unnamed officials as saying that Trump personally encouraged the US Department of Justice to issue subpoenas to journalists reporting on the Iran conflict in an effort to identify confidential sources linked to the stories.
Political analysts say tensions between Trump and major US media organizations have escalated once again, particularly at a time when both military and diplomatic developments between Washington and Tehran remain under intense global scrutiny.
