Shehbaz Sharif Signals Early Resumption of Peace Talks
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has indicated that a new round of peace negotiations could resume soon, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement shared on X, the prime minister said Pakistan had made it clear that it would continue to participate in peace initiatives with sincerity and constructive intent. He also expressed hope that the next round of negotiations would be hosted in the near future.
The statement came after heightened diplomatic activity led by Donald Trump regarding regional peace efforts in the Middle East. According to the statement, the US president held important telephone conversations with the leadership of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Pakistan to discuss the evolving regional situation and possible paths toward stability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the diplomatic outreach as significant and said the discussions focused on easing tensions and supporting practical measures for long-term peace in the region. He added that the conversations were productive and constructive.
The prime minister also praised Syed Asim Munir for his active role during the diplomatic process, saying he made continuous and dedicated efforts throughout the negotiations. According to the statement, his contribution was considered important for promoting regional peace and stability.
The leaders involved in the discussions reportedly agreed on the need to continue dialogue in order to reduce tensions and prevent the region from facing another major crisis.
