Explosion at Coal Mine in China Kills 82 Workers
At least 82 people have been killed after a gas explosion struck a coal mine in northern China’s Shanxi province, according to local media reports.
The explosion reportedly occurred at the Liuxiniu coal mine in Qinyuan County, where around 247 workers were underground at the time of the incident.
Emergency response teams have been deployed to the site, and rescue operations are continuing as authorities search for missing workers and assess the full scale of the disaster.
Officials said an investigation into the cause of the explosion has already been launched.
Mining accidents remain a major safety concern in parts of China despite repeated efforts by authorities to improve industrial safety standards and reduce risks in coal mining operations.
