Pakistan Announces 35-Player Squad for FIH Pro Hockey League Trials
Pakistan Hockey Federation(PHF) on Friday announced a 35-player shortlist for the upcoming FIH Pro League campaign.
According to officials, the shortlisted players will undergo final trials on May 19 and 20, after which the final national squad will be confirmed.
The goalkeepers selected for the trials include Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Ali Raza, Faizan Janjua, and Waqar.
For the defensive unit, selectors have placed their trust in Sufyan Khan, Muhammad Abdullah, Arshad Liaqat, Imad Shakeel Butt, Moeen Shakeel, Hammad Anjum, Nadeem Khan, Ali Hamza, Umar Mustafa, Abu Bakar, Abdul Mannan, Arbaz, Muhammad Ahsan Nadeem, Muhammad Imad, and Rana Waleed.
The striker lineup features Ahmad Nadeem, Ghazanfar, Afraz Khan, Zakariya Hayat, Rana Waheed, Abdul Rehman, Hannan Shahid, Adeel Latif, Basharat Ali, Ali Murtaza, Umair Sattar, Bilal, Abu Zar, Abdullah Yousaf, Hamza Faiz, and Abdul Wahab.
The announcement ceremony was attended by selection committee chairman Samiullah Khan along with committee members Naeem Akhtar, Nasir Ali, Manzoor-ul-Hasan, Kashif Jawad, and Dr Atif Bashir.
Pakistan is scheduled to face Spain and Belgium in the next stage of the Pro Hockey League. Following those fixtures, the national team will also compete against England and India.
