US Recognizes Pakistan as Key Regional Stabilizing Partner in Counterterrorism Efforts
Washington: The United States has described Pakistan as an important strategic partner in regional counterterrorism operations, highlighting Islamabad’s role in maintaining stability and combating extremist threats in the region.
During a briefing to a US Senate committee, Admiral Brad Cooper, head of United States Central Command, said Pakistan remains a reliable ally in the fight against terrorism and continues to play a critical role in operations against (ISIS-K).
He noted that strong military cooperation between Washington and Islamabad has produced measurable results against militant networks, adding that the achievements reflect the long-standing partnership and shared commitment between the two countries.
Admiral Cooper further stated that Central Asian partners are also closely monitoring security concerns linked to terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan. According to him, the continued threat of militancy emerging from Afghan territory remains a major concern for regional and international security.
The CENTCOM chief added that Afghanistan continues to remain at the top of Washington’s security watchlist due to the ongoing presence of extremist organizations inside the country.
Analysts believe the latest remarks underline Pakistan’s growing importance as a regional stabilizer at a time of evolving security challenges across South and Central Asia.
