Punjab Police to Deploy 5,000 Personnel for Gilgit-Baltistan Elections

Lahore: Punjab Police has finalized security arrangements for the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, with approximately 5,000 male and female officers set to be deployed to support election security operations.

According to official directives issued on the instructions of the Inspector General of Punjab Police, personnel from multiple police units will be assigned to election duties across the region.

The deployment plan includes 1,500 officers from the Regional Mounted Police (RMP) Wing, 1,242 personnel from the Punjab Constabulary, and 1,958 officers from the Punjab Highway Patrol. In addition, 300 female officers from Lahore Police will participate in election-related security assignments.

Authorities have also been instructed to make comprehensive transportation arrangements for the movement of personnel to Gilgit-Baltistan. Alongside road transport, rail travel is being considered as part of the logistical planning process.

Officials responsible for transportation have been directed to provide details of vehicles being used for deployment, including bus registration numbers, driver information, and contact details. These records will be submitted to the relevant branch of the Inspector General’s Office for coordination and monitoring purposes.

The directive further emphasizes the importance of safety standards, requiring transport providers to submit valid vehicle fitness certificates before the movement of personnel begins.

The large-scale deployment is aimed at ensuring a secure and peaceful environment during the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, enabling voters to participate in the democratic process without disruption.
