Iran Claims Retaliatory Missile Strike Following Reported Attack on Commercial Vessel
Tehran: Iran has announced a retaliatory military action following what it described as a U.S. attack on an Iranian commercial vessel.
According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a cruise missile was launched at a ship allegedly linked to the United States and Israel near Iraqi maritime waters. Iranian officials claimed the strike caused an explosion aboard the vessel.
The IRGC stated that Iran would respond decisively to any future attacks and warned against actions that could further escalate tensions in the region.
The development comes amid growing instability across the Middle East, where regional powers continue to exchange warnings and accusations over ongoing military operations.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Committee, warned that continued attacks on Lebanon could lead to serious consequences. He said Iran is closely monitoring developments and remains prepared to respond if the situation worsens.
Azizi also issued a warning to Israel and U.S. forces, stating that Iran’s threats should not be viewed as symbolic and that the country is fully capable of taking military action if required.
The latest statements highlight the rising tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States, raising concerns about the possibility of a broader regional confrontation.
