ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has welcomed the reported peace agreement between Iran and the United States, praising Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his role during a period of intense regional diplomacy.

In a message shared on social media, Naqvi said Asim Munir had once again demonstrated leadership, adding that his efforts extended beyond Pakistan’s national interests and contributed to broader international peace and stability.

The minister’s remarks came after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that an agreement had been reached between Washington and Tehran following extensive diplomatic engagement.

According to the prime minister, a formal signing ceremony for the agreement is expected to take place on June 19 in Geneva. He also acknowledged the diplomatic contributions of regional partners, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, for supporting efforts to advance dialogue and reduce tensions.

Officials have stated that the understanding includes commitments aimed at ending military operations across multiple fronts and creating conditions for a broader peace process. The framework is expected to support regional stability and encourage continued diplomatic engagement between the parties involved.

Naqvi’s statement reflects growing optimism within Pakistan over the reported breakthrough, which many officials view as an important step toward reducing conflict and promoting long-term peace in the region.

The agreement has attracted significant international attention, with governments and observers closely monitoring preparations for the anticipated signing ceremony and the next phase of negotiations.
