Indian Rupee Falls to Record Low Amid Economic Pressure

Mumbai: India’s currency has dropped to its weakest level in history as economic uncertainty and regional tensions continue to affect financial markets.

Following the recent tensions linked to the Iran-US conflict, the Indian rupee continued its downward trend, losing an additional 0.3 percent in value. The exchange rate reached 96.2275 rupees against the US dollar, marking a historic low for the currency.

Last week, the dollar was trading below the 96.1350 level in Indian markets, indicating a rapid decline in the rupee’s value within a short period.

Financial analysts believe rising global oil prices, regional instability, and pressure on emerging markets are contributing to the weakening of the Indian currency.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s currency showed slight stability during the last trading session of the previous week. According to the State Bank of Pakistan, the US dollar closed at 278.61 Pakistani rupees in the interbank market after falling by one paisa.

Economists say fluctuations in global energy markets and geopolitical tensions are likely to continue influencing regional currencies in the coming weeks.
