Palestinian Envoy Urges World Not to Overlook Situation in Occupied Territories

New York: Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, has called on the international community to keep its focus on the occupied Palestinian territories, warning that ongoing regional tensions should not divert attention from developments on the ground.

Speaking at a joint press conference in New York alongside representatives of the Arab Group and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mansour described the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories as increasingly serious and alarming.

He stated that conditions across the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip continue to deteriorate. According to Mansour, the current Israeli government is taking advantage of regional instability and shifting international attention to pursue policies that could significantly alter realities in the occupied territories.

Mansour expressed concern that actions being taken could undermine prospects for a two-state solution and further intensify the humanitarian challenges already facing residents of Gaza. He warned that such developments could have long-term consequences for peace and stability in the region.

The Palestinian diplomat emphasized the importance of sustained international engagement and monitoring of the situation. He urged global powers and international organizations to play an active role in preventing measures that could further reduce the chances of achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Mansour concluded by stressing that continued international attention and diplomatic efforts are essential to preserving the possibility of lasting peace and protecting the rights of Palestinians.
