Mike Hesson Defends Spin-Friendly Pitches for Australia Home Series

Lahore: Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has dismissed criticism surrounding the use of spin-friendly pitches during the ongoing home series against Australia, insisting that such conditions remain relevant for Pakistan’s future international commitments.

Following the opening match of the series, several cricket analysts and commentators questioned the preparation of turning tracks, arguing that Pakistan should focus on fast and bouncy surfaces to better prepare for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, which will be co-hosted by South Africa.

Responding to the criticism, Hesson said it would be inaccurate to assume that all World Cup matches will be played on pitches offering excessive pace and bounce. He emphasized that conditions across the tournament venues will vary significantly.
