Trump Claims Iran’s Missile Stockpile Significantly Reduced, Says Diplomacy Is the Only Option
Washington: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s missile inventory has been drastically reduced, arguing that Tehran will eventually have no alternative but to seek an agreement.
In an interview with NBC News, Trump stated that Iran now possesses only about 21 to 22 percent of its original missile stockpile. He suggested that the country’s leadership may soon be forced to make decisions that were previously considered unlikely.
The US president noted that resolving the ongoing tensions would take time and that complex international disputes are rarely settled overnight. However, he expressed confidence that developments are moving toward a situation in which Iran will be compelled to engage in negotiations.
Trump also said that his administration is making substantial progress in dealing with the Iran issue. Reaffirming a long-standing US position, he stressed that Washington remains committed to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
According to the president, Iran is currently not in a position to develop or possess a nuclear weapon, and the United States intends to maintain its current policy on the matter.
His remarks come amid continued regional tensions and growing international attention on the future of US-Iran relations and possible diplomatic efforts to ease the crisis.
