Lebanese Army Chief Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir, Receives Guard of Honour at GHQ
RAWALPINDI, June 9: Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces, General Rodolphe Haikal, held an important meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during his visit to General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Haikal was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent representing Pakistan’s armed forces upon his arrival at GHQ.
During the meeting, the two military leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment, defence cooperation, and opportunities to further strengthen military ties between Pakistan and Lebanon.
The discussions also focused on enhancing professional collaboration, training exchanges, and institutional cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir emphasized the importance Pakistan attaches to its long-standing and friendly relations with Lebanon. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding defence cooperation and strengthening military-to-military engagement with the Lebanese Armed Forces.
General Rodolphe Haikal praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s valuable contributions to regional stability and its participation in international peacekeeping efforts.
The ISPR stated that the visit reflects the shared determination of both nations to deepen military cooperation and further enhance bilateral defence relations.
