Russia and China United in Protecting Each Other’s Sovereignty, Says Putin
Moscow: Vladimir Putin has said that relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented level, with both nations standing together to safeguard each other’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and core national interests.
In a video message released ahead of his visit to Beijing, Putin said he was once again traveling to China at the invitation of his “long-time and close friend,” Xi Jinping.
The Russian president stated that continuous high-level communication and regular meetings between Moscow and Beijing play a key role in strengthening bilateral ties and unlocking the full potential of cooperation between the two countries.
Putin recalled that 25 years ago, Russia and China signed a treaty of good-neighborliness and friendly cooperation, which laid the foundation for what he described as a genuine strategic partnership.
According to Putin, the relationship between the two powers is now built on mutual trust, respect, equal cooperation, and support for each other’s fundamental interests, including the protection of sovereignty and national unity.
He praised Xi Jinping’s long-term commitment to partnership with Russia and said Moscow highly values China’s rich history, culture, scientific progress, and artistic heritage. He added that both countries are eager to expand cultural exchanges, tourism, and people-to-people contacts.
Putin further noted that Russia and China are deepening cooperation in politics, defense, trade, economic development, humanitarian initiatives, and regional affairs. He said both nations are jointly working on projects aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and supporting long-term national growth.
The Russian leader also highlighted the strong personal and diplomatic ties between Moscow and Beijing, saying the warm relationship between the two countries helps them pursue ambitious goals and transform them into reality.
Discussing economic cooperation, Putin revealed that annual trade volume between Russia and China has surpassed 200 billion dollars. He added that the two countries are now conducting most of their bilateral trade using the Russian ruble and Chinese yuan instead of Western currencies.
Putin also welcomed the growing visa-free arrangements between the two nations, saying the move would encourage tourism, business cooperation, and stronger public relations.
