Trump Suspends Iran Strike Plan After Gulf Nations Push for More Diplomacy

Washington: Donald Trump has temporarily halted a planned military operation against Iran after appeals from key Gulf allies, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

In a social media message, Trump revealed that leaders from the Gulf region requested additional time for diplomatic engagement with Tehran. Following those discussions, the U.S. administration decided to delay the proposed military action for several days.

Trump explained that regional leaders are hopeful ongoing negotiations could lead to a broader international understanding regarding Iran’s nuclear activities. According to him, the main objective of any agreement would be to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons capabilities.

The American president emphasized that while military action has been postponed, Washington remains ready to respond if diplomatic efforts collapse. He stated that U.S. defense officials have been instructed to stay fully prepared for immediate action if no acceptable agreement is reached.

Addressing an audience in Washington, Trump said the delay was intended to create room for negotiations but warned that time was running short for Tehran. He added that the United States would welcome a deal that permanently blocks Iran from obtaining nuclear arms, saying recent developments suggest there is still an opportunity for successful talks.
